International Para showjumper, Laura Goodall has joined the team of sponsored riders representing Robinson Animal Healthcare, following a nationwide search.
Laura’s determination and passion for the sport she loves stood out from the many applications that came flooding in.
Based in Shropshire, 27-year-old Laura has ridden since the age of six and competed in British Showjumping competitions from the age of 13 before life took an unexpected turn when she was diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis in 2015.
Following her diagnosis, Laura gave up riding for a year as her condition had progressed to such an extent that she could no longer cope with just riding at walk, never mind thinking about competing.
Not one to give up easily, Laura got back in the saddle and retrained herself to ride with her ‘new’ body. Towards the end of 2018 Laura was classified for Para Showjumping and began to compete in para competitions in 2019.
Laura now competes in both Para Showjumping and British Showjumping competitions with her top horse Guusje, who she purchased two years ago with the aim of competing in para competitions as her previous horse became too challenging for her to ride.
The pair has gone on to enjoy tremendous success winning individual gold and silver, representing Great Britain at the Pferd International Munich in 2019 and winning the National Grade 2 para class at the British Showjumping National Championships in 2020.
Said Laura: “I was delighted to receive the news that I had won. To be sponsored by such a high profile equestrian healthcare company who is one of the leaders in this field is brilliant.
“I have always used various products from Robinson Animal Healthcare, in particular Veterinary Gamgee® and Animalintex® as and when required. I’m really looking forward to see what the coming year has in store!”
Laura won £500 worth of first aid products as part of the sponsorship as well as a branded rug, saddlecloth and jacket, so keep an eye out for Laura at shows throughout this year!
