You will be joining a highly successful team that has been working with Disabled people for the last four years to change attitudes, perceptions and practices around physical activity and wellbeing. You will be a dynamic person and able to work collectively, as well as work on initiative, to solve problems and create impact to the benefit of Disabled people.

The post is part of a growing area at Disability Rights UK (DR UK) focussed on working with partners at a national and local level to create solutions to wellbeing inequalities faced by Disabled people. With a focus on physical activity as a key driver to the wider determinants of wellbeing you will lead on projects aligned with the DR UK flagship programme Get Yourself Active, funded by Sport England.

We are looking for someone determined to make a change to the way Disabled people access physical activity with a willingness to learn from and engage with untraditional partners in social care, health and at the grassroots. This is a full-time post with a salary range of £30 – 35k. We have a flexible working policy, and our offices are based on the Olympic Park near Stratford, London and are fully accessible.

Job Description

Responsibilities

Project management

  • Create project plans in line with Get Yourself Active programme aims and objectives
  • Be responsible for the delivery of agreed project plan tasks and milestones
  • Be responsible for meeting Key Performance Indicators and outcomes required by the funder
  • Take responsibility for completing monitoring reports for the funder
  • Collect qualitative and quantitative data to support our evaluation framework and theory of change
  • Liaise with the evaluation partner as and when required
  • Take responsibility for implementing the Get Yourself Active communications plan
  • Build and retain relationships with partners, stakeholders and consultants

Engagement

  • Work closely with Disabled People’s User Led Organisation (DPULO) colleagues to co-produce ideas and approaches to support the delivery of projects
  • Lead on the organisation of the Disabled People’s User Led Advisory Group and ensure effective engagement takes place
  • Engage and develop collaborative relationships with social care, health and sport leaders to achieve outcomes set out in our evaluation framework
  • Be aware of and engage with appropriate social care and health systems
  • Influence and upskill the sport sector in concepts and approaches for co-production
  • Develop content for the Get Yourself Active website and keep it up-to-date with key publications, films, case studies, blogs and resources and align this with wider DR UK communications

General

  • Keep abreast of developments in physical activity and sport for Disabled people and personalisation of social care and health
  • Promote inclusion, celebrate diversity, and positively challenge stereotypes
  • Work in partnership and share ideas with the Programmes and Impact Manager to promote inclusive practice and co-produce outcomes
  • Liaise on a regular basis with consultants, delivery partners and stakeholders including facilitating meetings and offering support when required
  • Promote the work of the project through attending meetings and giving talks and presentations
  • Work across teams contributing to successful outcomes
  • Contribute to the policy work of DR UK
  • Take an active part in team meetings/staff meetings
  • Contribute to internal reporting
  • Occasional weekend and evening work may be required for which time off in lieu will be given

There will be a requirement to travel on a regular basis for which expenses will be paid.

  • Personal experience of disability or working with Disabled people
  • Experience of managing and leading projects
  • Experience of using monitoring and evaluation systems
  • Experience of working in and around personalisation of social care and/or health
  • Experience of developing evaluation approaches including theory of change
  • Experience of application of research into practice



Knowledge
  • Knowledge of application of research methods
  • Understanding of the Social Model of Disability
  • Knowledge of producing and implementing communication strategies
  • Knowledge of social care and health systems in England
  • Awareness of wellbeing inequalities faced by Disabled people
  • Knowledge of principles and practice of co-production
